At a small family restaurant is the restless first generation child, who barely reaches the top of the counter. she listens to her mother take orders and watches customers go by. when she’s bored, you might see her lingering near the kitchens, watching her father cook. sometimes, she too shouts ‘Have A Nice Day!’ as patrons filter out the front door. dedicated to every immigrant owned restaurant that makes it a Nice Day for all of their customers, and especially to all of my fellow restaurant kids who have been on the other side of the counter.
