The word "fu" (福) means good luck, and are often displayed upside down on doors or above entrances inside and outside of homes to symbolize the arrival or pouring out of luck at the start of the Lunar New Year. 

We wanted to created a sign of luck that doubles as an art print and can be used for years to come.
